Angkor Wat

The great temple of Suryavarman II (reigned 1113 to about 1150), dedicated to Vishnu and laid out as Mount Meru in a quincunx of towers. Its eastern gallery carries the long relief of the churning of the ocean, with rows of asuras and devas pulling the serpent under Vishnu's direction. It became Buddhist from the late thirteenth century.
