Devalok — the realm of the gods. This is a library of the stories India tells about its gods: the ones written down in the epics and the Puranas, and the ones that live only in a particular temple, a particular village, a particular grandmother.
Every god gets a page. Every story says where it comes from. Local versions are kept as local versions, not flattened into one "correct" telling. Comics retell the stories in pictures for anyone who would rather look than read. The books section is a reading list, not a shop.
What you will find
- Gods — who they are, how to recognise them, and the stories told about them.
- Stories — legends, local lore, folk tales, episodes from the epics, festival stories.
- Comics — page-by-page picture stories.
- Books — the ones worth keeping, in several languages.
If you know a story we do not have — especially a local one — we would love to hear it.
