Jaya and Vijaya
The two gatekeepers of Vaikuntha who barred the child-like Kumaras and were cursed to be born away from Vishnu; they chose three hostile births over seven devout ones and so became Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu, Ravana and Kumbhakarna, Shishupala and Dantavakra. Their images stand as door-guardians at Tirumala, Puri and Srirangam.
