Kadru
In the Yajurveda and Brahmanas, the rival of Suparni who wins her in a wager and demands Soma as ransom; the texts equate her with the earth. In the Mahabharata she is a wife of Kashyapa and mother of the thousand snakes, who enslaves her sister Vinata by a trick.
