Kamakhya

The goddess of the Nilachal hill near Guwahati, worshipped in her temple as a cleft of rock with a spring and no image. At the Ambubachi Mela in mid-June the temple closes for three days for her yearly rest, during which farming stops; she is identified then with the Earth.
