Purusha (the cosmic person)
The thousand-headed being of Rigveda 10.90 whose sacrifice by the gods yields the social orders, the Vedas, the moon and the sun. Later Vaishnava thought identifies him with Vishnu-Narayana; Jamison and Brereton place the verses on the four orders in the Rigveda's latest layer.
