Savitri (princess of Madra)
Also called: Sabitri, Savithri
Daughter of King Ashvapati, born by the grace of the goddess Savitri and named after her. She chooses Satyavan knowing he will die in a year, follows Yama when he takes him, and wins back his life.
Where the tellings disagree Distinct from the goddess Savitri, consort of Brahma, after whom she is named. The Devi Bhagavata treats the princess as a birth of the goddess.
