Uparichara Vasu
A Paurava king who conquered Chedi on Indra's advice. When he turned to austerities Indra won him back with three gifts: a crystal chariot that travels through the air, a garland of unfading lotuses and a bamboo pole. A year later he planted the pole and worshipped Indra at it, which the Mahabharata gives as the origin of the Indra festival kept by kings.
