Vastoshpati

Lord of the Dwelling, the guardian of the house. Rigveda 7.54 asks him for a happy entry, health and thriving cattle; 7.55 opens with him and turns into a charm that sends the watchdog and the whole household to sleep. The Grihya Sutras have him propitiated on entering a new house (per Macdonell).
