The Bhrigus

Also called: Bhrgus, Bhargavas

An ancient priestly family. In the Rigveda they receive the fire from Matarishvan (1.60.1), or themselves track it to the waters and establish it among men (10.46.2, 2.4.2, 1.58.6, 1.143.4).
