Mahabali
The asura king remembered in Kerala as a just and equal-handed ruler whose reign was a golden age, pushed down to the netherworld by Vishnu's dwarf form and allowed to visit his people once a year at Onam. He is the same figure as the Puranic Bali, but the Kerala telling is about exile and homecoming rather than the boon and the gift of Sutala, and Thrikkakara is held to be where the dwarf's foot came down.
