Mahakala
Shiva as great time and death, beyond time, with Mahakali as consort; the Shaktisamgama Tantra describes him and Kalidasa already names Mahakaleshwar at Ujjain, where the daily bhasma aarti uses ash from the cremation ground. Tibetan Buddhism adopted him as a Dharmapala and Japan as Daikokuten.
