The mountain goddess of Garhwal and Kumaon, honoured as the Himalaya's daughter and as a young bride leaving her mother's home for Shiva's Kailash; her twelve-yearly Raj Jat is a three-week walking procession, and she is at once goddess, daughter and bride in the folk songs.
