Onam

Kerala's ten-day harvest festival from Atham to Thiruvonam in Chingam, remembering King Mahabali's yearly visit home: flower carpets, boat races, the tiger dance, the Onasadya feast; the flag rises at Thrikkakara; state festival since 1961. A parallel origin tells of Parashurama raising Kerala.
