Palani

Also called: Pazhani, Thiru Aavinankudi

Hill town in Tamil Nadu and the third of Murugan's six abodes. Its temple keeps Murugan as Dandayudhapani, a shaven young ascetic holding only a staff, the form he is said to have taken when he left Kailash after losing the contest for the fruit of knowledge.
