Shiber Gajan

A pre-harvest festival of Chaitra in western Bengal, kept mainly by agricultural communities with Brahmins excluded from central roles, in which devotees dress as Shiva and his ganas, act out his marriage and beg door to door, with the Charak hook-swinging as its climax; the older Dharma cult was absorbed into it.
