Svaha

In the Rigveda svaha is the cry spoken as an offering goes into the fire. The Mahabharata (Vana Parva 223-230) makes her a daughter of Daksha who loves Agni, takes the shapes of six of the seven sages' wives to win him, becomes the mother of Skanda, and is granted that every oblation be offered with her name so that she lives with Agni for ever.
