Dakshinamurthy
Shiva as the silent teacher, seated under a banyan tree facing south, surrounded by sages, teaching yoga, music and the scriptures without words. Installed on the south wall of nearly every Shiva temple; the Dakshinamurti Stotra attributed to Adi Shankara reads the silence as the teaching of the self's oneness with Brahman. The Naths call the same first teacher Adinath.
