Jagannath

The wooden lord of Puri, worshipped with Balabhadra and Subhadra, whose bodies are carved anew from chosen neem trees at Nabakalebara while a secret substance passes from old image to new. The Skanda Purana's founding story has a Sabara chief worshipping him as Nila Madhava before King Indradyumna's temple; Odia lists sometimes put him in the Dashavatara.
