Lakshmi
Goddess of fortune and radiance. The Rigveda speaks of Shri as prosperity and the Shri Sukta hymns her; the Shatapatha Brahmana has her emerge from Prajapati; the Puranas have her rise from the churned ocean and choose Vishnu as husband. Sri Vaishnava theology treats her as inseparable from Vishnu, and the Pancharatra Lakshmi Tantra makes her his creative energy. Every Divya Desam must have her shrine beside his.
