Rameswaram
The southernmost jyotirlinga and a Char Dham site, where Rama is said to have worshipped Shiva before or after the war with Ravana. Two lingas stand in the sanctum: the sand Ramalingam shaped by Sita and the Vishvalingam that Hanuman brought from Kailash, which is worshipped first; twenty-two tirthas stand for Rama's arrows. Stone came from Sri Lanka's Koneswaram around 1400 and the Setupatis built the long corridors.
