Somnath
Traditionally the first jyotirlinga, built by the moon-god after Shiva eased Daksha's curse; tradition says the temple was successively of gold, silver, wood and stone. Sacked by Mahmud of Ghazni in 1026 and later rulers, rebuilt by the Somnath Trust in 1951.
