Vrikasura

The demon of Bhagavata 10.88. On Narada's advice he worships Shiva at Kedara with his own flesh, wins the boon that anyone he touches on the head will die, and tries it on Shiva, who flees to Vaikuntha. Vishnu, as a young brahmachari, talks him into testing the boon on himself and his head shatters. The textual root usually named for the Bhasmasura story.
