The blind demon born of the sweat of Parvati's hands when she covered Shiva's eyes, adopted by Hiranyaksha, who lusted after Parvati not knowing she was his mother and was impaled on Shiva's trident; each drop of his blood bred another Andhaka until the Matrikas drank it. Redeemed, he became the gana Bhringi. Carved at Elephanta and Ellora.
