Abul Fazl
Akbar's chronicler (1551 to 1602), whose Ain-i-Akbari describes a cave in Kashmir where a bubble of ice forms with the new moon, grows for fifteen days to about two yards and dwindles with the waning moon until nothing is left, which the people hold to be Mahadeva; the earliest written description of the Amarnath ice linga.
