Vadapalani

Chennai's Murugan temple, grown from a picture of the Palani god that Annaswami Nayakar worshipped in a hut, built about 1890; its idol stands like Palani's and alone wears footwear, and Thaipusam and Panguni Uthiram fill its streets with kavadis.
