Valit

The poor, learned brahmin of Magadha in the Kojagara vrata katha. His wife Chandini crosses him in everything and throws his father's funeral offerings into a cesspool; he leaves for the forest, finds three naga maidens keeping the Kojagari vigil and playing dice, plays with them, and by Lakshmi's grace wins gold and goes home rich. The katha is said to have been taught by the sage Valakhilya.
