The sage of the Kashmiri tradition who found the Amarnath cave after Kashyapa drained the valley's lake, sent his disciples up each summer to see the ice linga, and when demons harassed them prayed to Shiva and received the mace that still leads the yatra; the Bringesha Samhita is named for him. Wikipedia gives the first seer of the cave as Bhrigu, whose Amarnath Mahatmya lists the old route; some writers treat the two names as one.
