Gowri Habba (Swarna Gowri Vratha)
The day before Ganesha Chaturthi, the third of bright Bhadrapada, when Gauri is believed to come to her parents' house like any married daughter and Ganesha comes the next day to take her back to Kailasa. Married women set a turmeric or clay Gauri on a plate of grain under a canopy of banana stems and mango leaves, tie a sixteen-knot thread on the right wrist and give baaginas to married women; a married daughter's parents send her the things for the worship.
