Sheshnag lake
The milky-green mountain lake on the Pahalgam route, a night halt of the yatra at about 11,730 ft, where the pilgrims' legend has Shiva release his serpents. Kalhana (1.267) tells it as the lake of dazzling whiteness the remorseful Naga Susravas made for himself on a far mountain, which people on the Amareshvara pilgrimage still see; Stein notes the pilgrims' name Sesanaga and the older Suesram Nag.
