The Vel
Murugan's leaf-bladed lance, given him by Parvati as her own Shakti to destroy Surapadman; called Vetrivel, Veeravel, Sakti Vel and Gnana Vel. Worshipped on its own in his temples, alone in the sanctum at Nallur, bathed in milk at the end of the Thaipusam walk, and the subject of Arunagirinathar's Vel Virutham.
